I think what you wrote was actually very logical. But, what about this? what if you added a little information? I am not saying your content isn't solid., but what if you added a post title that makes people want more? I mean %BLOG_TITLE% is a little vanilla. You could peek at Yahoo's front page and see how they create article titles to grab people to open the links. You might add a video or a related pic or two to get readers excited about what you've written.
